About Us

The Learning Source -- a division of the Community Opportunity and Innovation Network (COIN) www.coin-ced.org (a community economic development and social enterprise organization) -- was launched in September 2008 to ensure that the residents of Peterborough had access to a wide range of affordable leisure and skill-enhancing learning opportunties. It arose from COIN’s vision of a healthy, learning community and is supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

Based on our philiosophy that healthy communities are learning communities, COIN and the Learning Source are committed to making a contribution to a healthier and more active community and stronger social networks as people unite together around common learning interests.

One of our goals is to expand our service from the City of Peterborough to the neighbouring communities. The Learning Source has already forged partnerships with learning providers in Havelock and the City of Kawartha Lakes to provide greater visibility of programs offered within these communities. We also intend to promote learning opportunities in other rural areas in Peterborough County where there is sufficient interest.

The Learning Source, in focusing its efforts in filling the learning gaps in Peterborough and surrounding communities, is dedicated to empowering participants to learn new things, build upon exisiting skills, make new friendships and foster a more positive local community.  Working with local businesses and organizations as partners, the Learning Source strives to be a catalyst for community information, participation and action. Subscribe to our e-newsletter to be the first to find out about course offerings and subscriber discounts.
